Mirjam Weitzner-Smuk – Eyewittness lecture

Mirjam Weitzne -Smuk was born in Essen. In 1930. 8 -year-old Miriam was shortly after Kristallnacht put by her parents on the train to the Netherlands. Here she lived with different foster families and went to school. Eventually Miriam lives with her sister, who had also fled from Germany to the Netherlands and lives in Amsterdam. After a raid in June 1943 Mirjam and her sister were put in prison in Camp Westerbork. She survived as a child five concentration camps: Westerbork, Bergen- Belsen, Theresienstadt, Auschwitz and Märzdorf. Ms. Weitzner-Smuk talks about her war experiences on 9 November at the Memorial Center Camp Westerbork at Sunday 9 November 14:00. It is then 76 years since the Reischskristallnacht took place on the night of 9 to 10 November 1938 . In the museum an information table with UNITED campaign materials will be set up.
