Let’s say it louder: NEVER AGAIN!

Nowadays, as racism, right-wing populism and hate crimes are on the rise across Europe, civil society must concentrate all their efforts on stopping and reversing populist narratives and thus the spread of discrimination and bias-motivated violence. It is the duty of a democratic European civil society to transmit generation by generation a collective memory based on the concept “Holocaust – Never Again” as a way to overcome hatred, right-wing extremism and totalitarian ideology. Thus, when we say “Never Again”, it means that we commit ourselves to do everything in our power to prevent persecution, oppression, and genocides by totalitarian regimes before they can manifest.

For this year’s International Day Against Fascism and Antisemitism campaign, UNITED is focusing on spreading the message that we must take a firm stand and actively reject any narratives and actions that are causing harm to others.
Inspired by the message that singer Woody Guthrie placed on his guitar in 1941, “This Machine Kills Fascists”, which inspired many subsequent artists, we aim to spread the message that fascism and antisemitism can be “killed” with the joint effort of civil society.
We call upon members of the UNITED network and activists all over Europe to contribute to the campaign with their own ideas of powerful messages that inspire civil society to be active and stand firm against right-wing populist narratives. If you organise an event, if you publish an article, a video, pictures or posters relating to this day, please send an email to us to 9november@unitedagainstracism.org and we will share it on our campaign Facebook and website.

Start planning your activities

9 November is now only a few weeks away, so if you haven’t already started planning your Day Against Fascism activities, now is the time! Your activity doesn’t need to be a huge national event – it can also be a small local gathering.
If you need some inspiration for your activity, you can always check the list of Best Practices on the Day Against Fascism website as well as UNITED information leaflets on organising activities such as the Human Library, and how to use Holocaust education in antiracism work.
